Dr. Gary W. Williams is Coordinator of the Texas Agribusiness Market Research Center (TAMRC) and Professor of Agricultural Economics at Texas A&M University. His teaching and research expertise include international agricultural trade, agricultural policy, and marketing and price analysis. He holds a Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University and a B.S. in Economics from Brigham Young University. Before coming to TAMU in 1988, he a professor at Iowa State University, Senior Economist at Chase Econometrics, agricultural economist for U.S.D.A., and Special Assistant to the U.S. Deputy Under Secretary of Agriculture for International Affairs and Commodity Programs. Dr. Williams speaks fluent Spanish and has lived and worked in Latin America throughout his career. In 1991, Dr. Williams was named by then Texas Commissioner of Agriculture Rick Perry as a member of his Select Committee on the U.S.-Mexico Free Trade Agreement. In 1998, Dr. Williams and TAMRC received the TAMUS Vice Chancellor's Award in Excellence for Team Research.
